We are now almost three months in to the 2023-2024 school year, and with every new school year comes a new class of seniors. The senior class has loads of recreational events to make their last year of high school memorable, and one of those events includes voting for a senior memoir.
Each senior class gets to vote on a group of things under specific topics that they feel represent them as a class. The topics include a color, flower, song, quote, and even the staff speaker at their graduation. There are two rounds of voting. The first round includes free responses to nominate different credentials for the second round of voting. The responses with the most nominations will go in to the second and last survey. Seniors will vote on their favorite choices from each category in a multiple-choice arrangement. The elections are determined by the items that have the most popularity.
Now, we will look over what this year’s senior class voted for to be their official senior memoir!

Class Flower: Forget-Me-Not

What determines what the students vote for each year? Students elect/vote for certain things that are trendy during their school year, or things that represent how they’re feeling about the year. For example, the class quote (“Never back down, never what? Never give up! -Nick Eh 30) is a very popular audio across social media. Teens find it to be funny and relatable, hence why they elected it for their senior memoir.
The senior memoirs are an important tradition at Dakota, they represent the classes and help us remember the graduated classes. It shows us how the classes evolve and change throughout each of the years. This tradition is one that should continue each year!
