Opening day is upon us, and for those that have been avoiding Red Wing and Piston games, it is time to get excited. The worst years seem to be behind the Tigers and the future looks bright. If you’re planning to tune in to the game this afternoon or at any point this season, don’t be alarmed when you can’t find Fox Sports Detroit, which has been the home of the Tigers, Red Wings, and Pistons since 1997.

After being purchased by Disney in 2019, Fox Sports decided that a rebrand was necessary and  recently announced that starting March 31st that all of its regional sports networks, including Fox Sports Detroit will be renamed Bally Sports. There aren’t any major changes beyond the name of the channel, as familiar faces like Mickey York, John Keating, and Craig Monroe will still be on air, covering the teams. Also, no need to find look for the new channel. Bally Sports will the same channel as Fox Sports Detroit for all providers. The only immediate changes will be the in-game graphics and overall presentation of the broadcast. April 1st, will be the first full day of Bally Sports Detroit starting with the Tigers season opener against the Indians at 1:00 p.m. and the Red Wings taking on the Florida Panthers at 7:00 p.m.
