Wildfires in the West

Lately over the past couple of weeks the United states have been having major natural disasters. In Texas Hurricane Harvey and in Florida Hurricane Irma destroyed many people’s homes and personal objects. Everyone thought that they would have a mild wildfire season. They thought this because the winter and spring was wet. But, this was way from it. The West states got hit hard with drought and wildfires. It is where most natural disasters are happening. Everyone is just talking about how the Hurricanes are wreaking havoc in just two states while the wildfires are affecting many more.Wildfires in about 8 states right now and with 6 out of the 8 states having the worst time. The six states with the worst wild fires are California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, and Montana. Now the two states that are having a bad time but not as bad as the other six states are Arizona and Utah. Firefighters and police officers are working very hard to stop the wildfires from spreading or getting bigger. Wildfire smoke blanketing much of the Western and Northwestern U.S. is setting off health alarms, but firefighters say it’s helping them by containing temperatures and boosting humidity. According to Bryan Henry the smoke is helping. “It’s holding down our afternoon high temperatures by nearly 10 degrees,” said Bryan Henry, assistant manager of prediction services for the National Interagency Fire Center, which coordinates wildfire-fighting” (Elliot). They have gotten the fires to go down in some of the states but the main issue is still California. Calfornia hasn’t seen such a wildfire sincethe so-called Cedar Fire in San Diego County during October 2003. It burned 280,278 acres, destroyed 2,820 buildings, and killed 15 people. The burning has not stopped there but they are working very hard to evacuate the citizens that live there. They are doing their best.
