Red Wings season ended April 7th, with an overtime loss to the New York Islanders. With the season over, here is my list of the top 15 moments of the season that was.

 

#15)  March 31st, 2018 vs Ottawa: Last Win of the 17-18 Season 

A 2-0 win over the Senators was Detroit’s 30th and final win of the season, and the last of the season at Little Caesars Arena.

 

#14) December 5th, 2017 vs Winnipeg: 5-1 win over the Jets

The Red Wings welcomed in one of the top teams in the league in the Jets and posted one of their most complete and impressive wins of the season.

 

#13) February 17th, 2018 @ Nashville: Witkowski’s First Career Goal 

Luke Witkowski scored his first career NHL goal on a breakaway in a 3-1 win over the Predators in Nashville. It was his only goal of the season.

 

#12) January 14th, 2018 @ Chicago: Bertuzzi’s First Career Goal and a Shutout Win

Tyler Bertuzzi scored his first NHL goal and goalie Petr Mrazek posted a 27-save shutout in a 4-0 win over the Blackhawks in Chicago.

 

#11) November 6th, 2017 @ Vancouver: Tatar’s Game Winner With 1:14 Left

Tomas Tatar scored a clutch goal with 1:14 left in regulation to break a 2-2 tie and win the game for the Red Wings.

 

#10) February 24th, 2018 vs Carolina: Zetterberg ties Lindsay in All-Time Goals with Red Wings

Henrik Zetterberg’s power-play goal in the 2nd period was his 335th of his career, which tied Ted Lindsay for 5th all-time in Detroit Red Wings history.

 

#9) November 15th, 2017 vs Calgary: Wings Score 8 Goals in Big Win

The Red Wings put up 8 goals, most in a game this season, and went 4 for 6 on the power-play in a massive 8-2 win over the Flames.

 

#8) March 12th, 2018 @ San Jose: Zetterberg Passes Lindsay in Goals with Red Wings

Henrik Zetterberg’s goal was his 336th career in the NHL, officially passing Ted Lindsay for sole possession of 5th all-time in Wings history.

 

#7) December 31st, 2017 vs Pittsburgh: Win on New Years Eve

The Red Wings New Years Eve tradition moves to Little Caesars Arena for the first time and the Red Wings make good on the first time and beat the Penguins 4-1 in front of a wild and crazy crowd.

 

#6) February 25th @ New York Rangers: Daley’s OT Winner

Trevor Daley scored with 6 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Wings a 2-1 win at Madison Square Garden.

 

#5) February 11th, 2018 @ Washington: Tatar’s OT Winner

After the Red Wings blew a 3 goal lead in regulation, Tomas Tatar scored in overtime to give the Red Wings a 5-4 victory in DC.

 

#4) October 10th, 2017 vs Minnesota: First Win at Little Caesars Arena

The Red Wings were victorious in their first regular season game at Little Caesars Arena, 4-2 over the Wild.

 

#3) January 31st, 2018 vs San Jose: Tatar’s Shootout Goal

Tomas Tatar scored a filthy shootout goal on Sharks goalie Martin Jones to help the Wings win 2-1.

 

#2) October 5th, 2017 vs Minnesota: Mantha Scores First Ever Goal at LCA

Anthony Mantha’s power-play goal at 14:40 of the second period was the first ever goal in Little Caesars Arena history.

 

#1) January 3rd, 2018 vs Ottawa: Athanasiou’s Historic Overtime Winner

Andreas Athanasiou scored 6 seconds into overtime, tying the record for fastest overtime goal in NHL history, as the Red Wings defeat Ottawa 2-1 for the best moment of 2017-18.
