New Additions to the Detroit Red Wings

General Manager and Executive Vice President Steve Yzerman made some trade moves before the NHL deadline.

The first move to be made was trading defenseman Troy Stecher to the LA Kings in exchange for a seventh round pick in the 2022 draft. To most fans, this was unsurprising.

The second move to be made was trading defensemen Nick Leddy and Luke Witowski (who didn’t see much ice time as a Red Wing but performed well in Detroit’s minors the Grand Rapids Griffins) in exchange for forward Oskar Sundqvist, defensemen Jake Walman, and a 2023 draft second round pick.

The third and final move was sending forward Vladislav Namestnikov to the Dallas Stars in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2024 draft. To many Wings fans, this trade felt a little boring and that Yzerman should have been able to get a little more for him.

Are these good moves from the famous Stevie Y or were they underwhelming? Only time will tell as we keep our eyes on Oskar Sundqvist and Jake Walman’s performance, as well as the upcoming drafts.
