Top 3 Sports Moments from 2016-2017

Top 3 Moments of the 2016-2017 Sports Season

1. First lets start off by talking about the 2016 World Series. The World Series was a matchup between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. The Indians took a commanding lead in the very first game of the series with an 6-0 win. The Cubs then came firing out of the dugout with an 5-1 the second game. The Cleveland Indians took game 3 and 4. So the Series was 3-1 Indians. The Chicago Cubs never gave up they fired back with taking game 5 and 6. Down to the 7th and final game of the World Series the Cubs took the win 8-7 in extra innings. That was the first time the Cubs won the World Series since 1908.

2. The 2017 Super bowl came down the wire with two great teams duking it out during the fourth quarter. The two teams that were playing against each other were the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons went into half with an demanding 21-3 lead. Everyone believed the game was over because of the score. The Patriots did put up 6 points in the 3rd quarter but the Falcons added another 7 to go to their lead. So the Score going into the 4th quarter was 28-9. The Patriots aren’t a team that will give up so during the last quarter of the biggest football game they put up 19 points. The falcons did not score once. So the game was tied going into OT. The first drive of OT James White ran the ball in for a game winning touchdown and the final score was 34-28. Tom Brady went back to back Super Bowl Champs.

3 . In 2016 Toronto’s turn as the first international host of All-Star Weekend will be remembered for one major reason: A sensational Slam Dunk Contest that needed two rounds of tiebreakers to determine a champion. To defend his 2015 crown and outlast an unexpectedly strong challenge from Aaron Gordon, Zach LaVine ultimately needed to score 299 out of a possible 300 points. While the sky-walking LaVine turned to a deep reservoir of long-distance combination dunks, Gordon took a different approach, employing costumes, Orlando’s mascot and a hoverboard to win over the crowd. By the time he pulled off the epic “Butt Dunk” many observers were rooting for the upset. Alas, LaVine held him at bay by earning his fifth “50” in six tries, going between his legs after taking off from one step inside the free-throw line. The calls for a rematch started before LaVine was even presented with his second straight champion’s trophy. This was one of the best and coolest moments to witness for Zach Lavine and Aaron Gordon.
