Super Bowl Distraction
On Sunday while the world looked forward to watching the Super Bowl the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid, was most likely trying very hard to stay focused on the biggest football game of the season while knowing his son had been involved in an accident that has left a 5 year old child in critical condition with a brain injury. Andy Reids son, the Chiefs linebacker coach, Britt Reid, was driving his Dodge Ram pickup when he struck two vehicles on an entrance ramp to Interstate 435. One of the officers on the scene reported that he observed signs of impairment which prompted a blood draw. Reid did tell the officer that he had consumed two to three drinks and also took Adderall. Britt Reid was transported to the hospital due to stomach pain where he had surgery. Andy Reid, after losing the Super Bowl, was asked by reporters about the accident and he was sympathetic and stated that, “his heart bleeds for the people involved in the accident” but could not comment any further due to an investigation and the legal process to be completed.
