Steve Yzerman Comes Home
Steve Yzerman returns to the Detroit Red Wings as General Manager and Executive Vice President. Steve Yzerman is a former player for the Red Wings. He was a centerman and a Captain. His jersey number was 19. People have given many nicknames such as, “Captain Forever”, “Stevie Y”, and “The Captain”. Steve Yzerman scored 692 goals (ninth-most goals scored among all NHL players) over his career.
After his playing career (1983–2006), Steve Yzerman went to Tampa Bay Lightning as General Manager in 2010. He helped improve the team and helped the team make the playoffs. In fact, this past season, he helped the team to tie the Red Wings record of most wins in a season (62 wins). Unfortunately, he never won the Stanley Cup with the Lightning. After the Lightning getting swept (4-0) in this year’s playoffs by the Columbus Blue Jackets (which shocked many people), Steve Yzerman decided it was time to come back to Detroit.
Steve Yzerman is back home at Detroit. Many Red Wings fans are very happy. Many Red Wings fans hope that Steve Yzerman will improve the team and get them back in the playoffs and eventually winning the Stanley Cup. Welcome home Steve Yzerman!
