Detroit Red Wings Trade
Detroit Red Wings had a few trades at the NHL trade deadline. The Detroit Red Wings traded two of their players. The two players the Wings traded are Gustav Nyquist and Nick Jensen. Gustav Nyquist was traded to the San Jose Sharks and in return the Red Wings gained a second-round draft pick in the 2019 draft. They also gained a third-round 2020 draft pick which could become a second-round draft pick if the San Jose Sharks make it to the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals or if Gustav Nyquist re-signs with the Sharks.
Nick Jensen was traded to the Washington Capitals. The Wings also gave the Capitals a fifth-round draft pick in the 2019 draft. In return the Wings gained a 2020 second-round draft pick and defenseman Madison Bowey. Bowey is signed for a one-year contract with the Wings. The Wings hope to turn him into one of their top defensemen.
Overall, these were good trades that the Wings made. Hopefully by getting better draft picks in the coming years, they will be able to build their roster back up and they will once again be contenders for the Stanley Cup.
