2018 MLB Winter Meetings “The 5th And Final Day Recap”
Day 5
On the fifth and final day of the 2018 MLB Winter Meeting in Las Vegas had one of the biggest trades of the offseason when you factor in the teams and players that were involved.
Deals: On Thursday a three team trade went down that involved the Indians, Mariners and Rays. This deal sent first baseman Edwin Encarnacion to the Mariners. Cleveland also sent Yandy Diaz and a prospect to Tampa Bay. In exchange Cleveland acquired 1B/OF Jake Bauers and first baseman Carlos Santana.
Also, on Thursday the Los Angeles Dodgers signed relief pitcher Joe Kelly to a three-year-deal worth 25 million dollars. Last year Kelly’s ERA in the postseason with the Red Sox was 1.59 in last year’s World Series agents the Dodgers.
News: Tigers grab flame thrower Reed Garrett from Rangers in rule 5 draft. (Garrett’s fastball reportedly reached 100 mph.)
White Sox grabbed former Tiger’s catcher James McCann a deal that is reportedly worth 2.5 million.
