2018 MLB Winter Meetings Day 3 Recap
Day 3
On day three of the 2018 MLB winter meetings in Las Vegas had some more action and big deals in store.
Deals: The biggest news of the day involved veteran center fielder Andrew McCutchen and the up and coming Philadelphia Phillies. Andrew McCutchen will return to the key stone state in 2018 but this time in Philadelphia. On Tuesday, December 11, 2018 the Phillies signed McCutchen to a 3-year-deal worth 50 million dollars. Last year McCutchen batted .255 with 20 home runs and 65 RBIs.
The Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates where involved in a deal. The Chicago White Sox acquired starting pitcher Ivan Nova from the Pirates. In exchange the Pirates acquired right handed pitcher Yardi Rosarlo & $500,000 in international bonus pool money. Last year with the Pirates Nova went 9-9 with a 4.19 ERA.
News:
• On Tuesday the Tronto Blue Jays released 5x All-Star Troy Tulowitzki, he has two years left on his deal worth 34 million dollars. With additional 2021 buyout worth 4 million.
(Tulowitzki suffered ankle and foot Injuries last season)
• The Baltimore Orioles found a new skipper on Tuesday in Brandon Hyde. Hyde was the bench coach for the Chicago Cubs last season.
Rumors:
• The Philadelphia Phillies have growing interest in free agents Bryce Harper and Manny Machado.
