Dakota Football Continues Dominance
Friday, September 14th, Dakota played Stevenson in a football MAC Red matchup. Dakota got off to a hot start scoring early and often. Running back Dustin Solomon had himself a day totaling 270 yards to go along with 4 touchdowns. Stevenson had some ball security issues, fumbling in their own end zone for a safety, and throwing an interception that junior linebacker Anthony Allen Jr. returned for a touchdown. It was an exciting night for the supporters of both teams. It was Stevenson’s homecoming game with lots of fun festivities at halftime, and Dakota was decked out in purple to support Cougar parent, Dana Strnad, who is fighting pancreatic cancer.
Next week the Cougars face off against Chippewa Valley playing for the annual Superintendent Trophy. This game could decide who ultimately wins the MAC Rec division. This will be a battle of two undefeated teams and will most likely be an offensive shootout. Both teams have multiple offensive weapons that can get the ball in the end zone, which has been proven because both teams average more than 40 points per game so far this season. There should be a big show out, as this is one of the most anticipated matchups of the season.
