What To Watch For: Sports in December
December is here and what a great time to be a sports fan this time of year. This is a month filled with big games and I’ll mention all the huge games across the top sports in the country.
Starting off with College Football, December 1st is a day filled with quality football. Here’s the slate of games:
AAC Championship #14 UFC vs #20 Memphis 12pm ABC
Big 12 Championship #3 Oklahoma vs #11 TCU 12:30pm FOX
SEC Championship #2 Auburn vs #6 Georgia 4pm CBS
PAC 12 Championship #10 USC vs #12 Stanford 8pm ESPN
ACC Championship #7 Miami vs #1 Clemson 8pm ABC
Big Ten Championship #4 Wisconsin vs #8 Ohio State FOX
There are a couple of big games in the NBA in December, here they are:
Warriors at Pistons – December 8th
The Pistons are on a roll right now. They’re currently 14-6 and 2nd in the eastern conference. Earlier in the season they beat the Warriors 115-107, so this is shaping up to be a great rematch.
Cavaliers at Warriors – December 25th
The two teams from last year’s NBA finals will face off on Christmas. Its been a bit of a down year for the Cavaliers but we there is no doubt they will go all out for this one.
NHL
Penguins vs Detroit Red Wings – December 31st (Fox Sports Detroit)
The Penguins and Red Wings have a long rivalry with one another. Despite both teams having dissapointing seasons, this one should be good.
UFC
Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale December 1st
The Ultimate Fighter final will determine who the inaugural women’s flyweight champion will be.
UFC218 Halloway vs Aldo Saturday December 2nd 10pm on PPV (prelims 8pm on FS1)
This will be first UFC event at Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The main event will feature a rematch the featherweight champion Max Holloway take on the challenger José Aldo. José held the feather weight Championship until last June where he lost to Holloway by TKO.
