Red Wings Fight Night
On November 28th of 2017, the Detroit Red Wings faced off against the L.A. Kings at the new Little Ceasars Arena. It was a special Hockey Fights Cancer Night, which is a charitable initiative started in 1998. To begin the game, in honor of the initiative, 11-year old cancer patient Noah dropped the puck.
It was also a memorable day for many cancer patients alongside Noah. Prior to warm-ups, the whole Detroit team treated over 50 cancer patients to a VIP experience. The patients and their families were able to meet the players and watch their pre-game practice. During warm-ups, Detroit Red Wings players also sported personalized purple jerseys in support of people fighting cancer.
After a long and tough fight, the Red Wings lost 4-1 against the Kings. Although the Wings lost, the game provided a memorable moment for one of Detroit’s very own players. Frans Nielson assisted Mike Green on his 400th career point – the only goal of the game!
