Senior Night
The 17th-21st were Volleyball, Football, Swimming, Cheer and Dance last regular season games. On each game day there was “Senior Night.” Senior Night is when all the seniors are recognized. Each senior of class of 23 has worked so hard these past years and especially with covid ruining their first year of high school, they never really got to experience high school. This is their final year that everything has gone back to ‘somewhat’ normal, most of these seniors get to play their sport with nothing getting their way. All these seniors have something special, and they are truly dedicated to the sport that has their heart. I talked to a few seniors from each sport and asked them 2 important questions.
Question: “Where do you want to go to college? And what are you going to miss about playing your sport in high school?
Football:
Joe Cacevic: “The college I want to go to in still undecided, but I am going to miss building a bond with my team and playing with the same people I have grown up with”
Calvin Watson: “I’m not sure what collage yet, looking at Ferris and SVSU but not 100% sure yet and what I will miss is, Friday night lights and all your friends coming to support “
Quest Willams: “I’m not sure what college yet but I’m going to miss it all Friday night lights are a special feeling thousands of people showing out to watch you that’s what I’m gone miss the most”
Volleyball:
Lexi Brown: “I want to go to Scranton University in Pennsylvania. What I am going to miss, the culture of already being close with people on your team and playing with your best friends and I will not be playing with them after high school.”
Monika Gjorovski: “the college I’m going to is still undecided but I’m going to miss the memories and friendships I made throughout the four years”
Emma Thamarus: “I’m going to mount Vernon Nazarene university and what I will miss is being surrounded by the girls that you have grown up playing with because of the bonds you guys have formed throughout the years, they have become sisters to me”
Swimming:
Andrea Robles: “Oakland, after winning a game, the feeling of being accomplished and the bond with my team”
Brayden Donahue: “after I complete ecm I will most likely transfer to Wayne state, I will definitely miss the different type of mindset I experience while swimming & the community surrounding it”
Cheerleading:
Jade Reese: “I am not sure what college I’m going to but what I am going to miss about cheering is that we got into the games for free and the feeling of being IN the game as well instead of in the stands because it’s a different feeling.”
Sofia Colella: “I’m going to Harvard and I’m going to miss the team bonds I grew with people and going to practice every day”
Olivia Taormina: “I want to go to grand valley college and I’m going to miss the feeling of being on the mat at comps and in front of the student section at games”
Dance:
Natalie Petrovitch: “I am going to go to Central Michigan, I am going to miss bonding with my team “
Ainsley Hrydziuszko: “The college I want to go to is still undecided, and I am going to miss the bond and game days and half-time performances”
Ava Thomas: “I am planning to attend central Michigan university and I am going to miss dancing at the football and basketballs games and being involved in the school. “
Angelia Deska: “I am not sure of what college I want to attend, but I want to dance in college. I will miss being able to perform at all the football and basketball games and I will also miss traveling to Florida for nationals. even all the small things like team dinners and team bonding activities are things I will miss experiencing with my team after high school”
Senior year is an exciting and sad year, everyone you have grown up with since elementary school will be going their separate ways and accomplishing their own goals. Each of these seniors are going to leave high school with their head held high knowing that even though they did not experience the whole high school experience, they got to accomplish everything they wanted to and not have any regrets. They all hope to continue their academic and athletic careers in college and become better than ever!
