The NHL (National Hockey League) has been running since 1917. It’s a pretty big deal. This sports league is one of the longest-running leagues in sports history! The only other sports league that has been longer than the NHL, is the MLB (Major League Baseball), which was founded in 1876. Now let’s discuss the two most talked teams in the NHL: the Vegas Golden Knights and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Vegas Golden Knights are starting off this season hot. This first-year team is beginning with a 7-1 record. They are tied for first in their league with the Vancouver Canucks. They are definitely putting up points for being just a first-year team. This new team was created during the offseason, and players from every other team have joined together to work hard and play hard.

Now for the defending Stanley Cup champions! The Pittsburgh Penguins have picked up exactly where they left off last year. The Penguins are 6-3 tied for first with the Devils. They are trying to be back to back Stanley Cup winners! Even though it’s just the beginning of the hockey season, they are looking ahead of time and playing like their lives depend on it.
