Welcome to Detroit Hockey!
Hockey is back in Detroit, and what a wild and memorable season opener it was!
On October 14, 2021 the Red Wings put up an intense fight, but lost in overtime with a final score of 7-6. Tyler Bertuzzi alone scored 4 times, but the talk of the night were two newcomers making their NHL debut: Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond.
Moritz “Mo” Seider, a defenseman, nabbed two NHL points in his debut, and Lucas Raymond, a left wing, grabbed one. All three assist points were recorded helping Bertuzzi score one of his many goals. The new additions to the team mark a new, exciting era in Detroit hockey under general manager and Red Wings legend Steve Yzerman. Mo Seider was the GM’s first round draft pick in 2019, Yzerman’s first draft with the team as GM, and Lucas Raymond was the team’s first round pick in 2020.
Though the Wings lost this game, they showed a spark that many fans thought was lost a long time ago. With these new players and a newfound edge, this season will be one to watch. As the fans of Detroit say, trust the #Yzerplan.

We need to hire Gordon Bombay as coach, he did some impressive work in Minnesota during the 90s.
