Spartans getting hot at the right time

Michigan State, who is one of the blue bloods of college basketball, were not looking too good about two weeks ago. MSU was sitting at 10-9 with a daunting schedule for the next two weeks. Most experts thought this would be the year the Spartans break their 22-year streak of getting into the NCAA tournament, but they made the most of this tough schedule. They started of the week beating #5 Illinois and #4 Ohio State both in East Lansing. Two wins that catapulted them right back into the tournament conversation. They then played Maryland on the road in College Park and lost after Maryland played very good defense. The Spartans had a two-game series with Michigan to end the regular season and if MSU were to get one of these games they will be in a very good spot to make the tournament. Sure enough, the Spartans split the series with Michigan winning the second game in East Lansing making them a lock for the tournament regardless of what happens in the Big Ten Tournament. Aaron Henry, junior out of Indiana, has made a huge impact in the Spartans past surge to make the tournament. He is averaging 19.6 points per game in the last 7 games and just earned 3rd team all Big Ten Conference and 1st team Defense. MSU plays Maryland on Thursday to start the Big Ten tournament and should be a 10-11 seed in the NCAA tournament. This extends their streak to 23 years of making the NCAA tournament.
