Soul Beneath the Name: Chase Amicks “6 Dogs”
Hearts are mourning as the tragic passing of Chase Amicks, more widely known as his stage name “6 Dogs”, was announced earlier afternoon yesterday on January 26, 2021. The Atlanta, Georgia raised 21-year-old has reportedly died from an apparent suicide. Chase Amicks left behind a loving community that he left changed and inspired. Through his short time as an artist, he accomplished so much starting at age 17 when one of his first songs he dropped, “Flossing” went viral, and the dropping of his biggest hit, “Faygo Dreams” following less than a year after. Each song had surpassed a couple million streams on the streaming platform Soundcloud- now some reaching almost half of one-hundred million. His unique sound at the time had been fairly new, the genre emo rap becoming one of the Soundcloud’s most popularized genres over the last few years. As for projects, several singles and features have been produced since the beginning of 6’s career along with releasing 3 albums: his self-titled debut 6 Dogs (2017), 6 Wolves (2018), and Hi-Hats & Heartaches (2019). He has influenced several of artists in the music scene, receiving tributes and homage from all over after his passing was brought to light.
It’s unsaid the confirmed cause of death as of right now besides an apparent suicide. Amicks has been open in the past regarding speaking about his mental health and journey, using music as a creative outlet of self-expression. It has also been known that Amicks is a victim of depression, along with a recent tweet that has fans absolutely devastated due to this tragic passing.
6 dogs tweeted this screenshot from an Instagram story repost on November 28, 2020 which discusses the internal struggles those in the music business deal with. Fans have been speculating this was a call for help.
Chase Amicks was taken from his loved ones and fans too soon. Some of Soundclound’s new and upcoming artist’s have shared their personal connections to the Atlanta artist, along with tweets from his fellow collaborators in the scene.
Chase Amicks spent his years inspiring others and spreading love, and knowledge. A remarkable soul that went far too soon but as he believed himself- energy can never be destroyed, and can never die. What he left here will never die and he will continue to live throughout his fans, family, music, and his energy. Rest In Peace Chase Amicks.
