Dakota Marching Band – The Start of a New Season
The Dakota High School marching band performed their show “Remix” on Friday at the football game. The show is made of a remixed version of Beethoven’s 5th symphony. The band will perform their show during halftime at every home football game. They also do a pre-game opening show before kickoff, at 6:45 pm.
This year, the marching band will participate in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and the Michigan Competing Band Association. In which the band will compete against other bands across the entire state to be the best marching band. When I asked Justin Makarewicz, the band director, what he was most excited for this year, he simply said “Ford Field, November 2nd “. Which is the day of the MCBA Championship.
The students of marching band were very energetic and performed amazingly. I asked a few members what their favorite part of being in marching band was, and trumpet player Matt Barnett said, “the family atmosphere” and color guard member Elena Andreopoulos, said “the crazy antic we get up to.”
Ashley Binder said favorite part about coaching Color guard is “I love seeing how passionate the kids get in the activity, and seeing them grow and become better spinners.”
So come to a game and check out your Dakota Marching Band!
