Rod Rosenstein Resigns
On April 29, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein submitted his resignation. Rosenstein’s final day as Deputy Attorney General was May 11.
Rosenstein originally took office on April 26, 2017. Rosenstein had appointed special counsel Robert Mueller to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Since former Attorney General Jeff sessions recused himself, Rosenstein oversaw the special counsel for over a year.
On May 16 the United States Senate voted 52 to 45 to confirm Jeffrey Rosen to replace Rosenstein as Deputy Attorney General. Jeffrey Rosen previously served as deputy Transportation secretary under President Trump.
