Former MSU President Lou Anna Simon charged with lying to police
Former Michigan State President Lou Anna Simon was charged with lying to police. On November 20, Lou Anna Simon was charged in Eaton County District Court with two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts. These charges happened due to accusation that Simon lied to the police about the Larry Nasser investigation.
Simon was arraigned in Eaton County Court on November 26. The preliminary hearing was scheduled for December 18. She was released on bond and was ordered to surrender her passport.
Simon was appointed the interim president of Michigan State in 2003. From 2005 to 2018 she served as president of Michigan State University. Following criticism of her handling the sexual abuse case of the MSU doctor Larry Nasser she resigned as president of MSU.
