Richard DeVos dies at 92

On Thursday, September 6th, Richard DeVos died at the age of 92. Richard DeVos passed away at his home in Ada, Michigan. Mr. DeVos cause of death was complications from an infection. A private funeral was held on Thursday, September 13th. He was known for being the co-founder of Anway and was the owner of the Orlando Magic. Forbes magazine estimated at the time of Mr. DeVos death that his family’s wealth at 5.5 billion. He was known republican party and conservative donor. He also co-founded the Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation. The DeVos were known for their philanthropy in education and health care. His son Richard DeVos Jr. is married to Betsy DeVos the current Secretary of Education. This is what Mr. DeVos said about his business, “I’ve built my business on complimenting people, we don’t do that enough”.
