Eras Tour Setlist
Friday, March 17th kicked off the beginning of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour with two shows in Glendale, Arizona. This long-anticipated tour has kept the internet buzzing, even before it started with a new record shattering album, fans waiting endless hours to purchase tickets, and Swift adding seventeen shows to the tour after seeing that tickets were in such high demand. Excitement has only continued to grow after the first incredible performances, with videos from concert goers going viral, especially on TikTok for Taylor’s vocals and beautiful outfits. Swift performed for three hours and played hits from her entire music career. Glendale, or “Swift City” as it was nicknamed over the weekend, was buzzing with Swifties from all over the country. As a surprise to embark on tour, Swift also released four news songs at midnight on the seventeenth. It is unknown if these songs will later be performed on tour, but regardless, supporters can’t get enough.
Swift seemed to hint at which songs would be included in the setlist in an Instagram post announcing the 2023 Eras Tour back in November, stating that “it’s been a long time coming,” referencing her opening song “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince.” Needless to say, Swift is a mastermind. Fans have been looking for hints about the tour on social media for months and creating their own theories about what the tour would look like. Just like the metaphors in her songs, each social media post has a deliberate meaning waiting to be uncovered.
Fans also showed up to Swift City with unique outfits for the event which ranged from representing their favorite Taylor era, recreating costumes from music videos, and inside jokes within the Swiftie fanbase.
Swift is also performing a different acoustic surprise song for each night of her tour. During her two nights in Glendale she performed “mirrorball” and “this is me trying”. This means that she will not be performing these songs again on tour, but with over 200 songs in her discography, Swift will not fail to amaze.
Eras Tour feels like a dream come true for many, who have never seen Swift perform, or have not seen her since before the pandemic. But whether it’s your first time seeing her, or you’ve been there since the beginning, you’ll be enchanted to see her.
