Shake Shack Opening Near Dakota
Shake Shack is a well-known and well-loved fast-food chain. The first ever Shake Shack was opened in 2000 in Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York as part of the plan to redevelop the park. The first Shake Shack to ever be opened in Michigan was five years ago on February 23rd, 2017, inside the First National Building at 660 Woodward in Detroit, Michigan. After that, three more followed in the next couple of years.
With the closest location previously being thirty-three minutes away, hopefully it is exciting news that a brand-new Shake Shack will be opening its doors near our school. One of what will be five Shake Shack’s in all of Michigan, we are lucky enough to have it being built only ten minutes from our campus. 13883 Lakeside Cir, Sterling Heights, Mi 48313- The perfect distance for an after-school snack! And because of how close the new store is to Lakeside Mall, it will be convenient for shoppers to stop in before or after doing some shopping.
In Lakeside Circle, near the Red Lobster, a completely new Shake Shack is opening with a clean and modern looking building- along with a drive through, outdoor patio seating, and kiosk where you can order without having to interact with an employee to do so. The drive through and outdoor seating options of this Shake Shack have large appeal because the previously closest Shake Shack near us, at Somerset mall, does not have those specific features. Going from a small stand in a mall thirty-three minutes away to a whole store only ten minutes away as our closest available Shake Shack should be a welcome transition for most.
With November fifth being the official opening day for this new addition to our community, the Shake Shack staff are expecting large lines and a busy day. Because this restaurant is new, a majority of the staff is obviously also new. Coming off of a week straight of training, it will be interesting to see how the new employees handle the large predicted crowds and small hiccups expected of a grand opening.
Speaking of new workers at Shake Shack, that is a large way that these effects are school. A lot of students at our school are already employed by Shake Shack! Students like senior Quinn Garrisson are reportedly “super excited and pumped” to be working at place like Shake Shack.
For those unfamiliar with the Shake Shack menu, they are known most for their burgers and shakes-hence the name. Classic cuisine but considered to be higher quality than most comparative fast-food restaurants. Don’t worry though- there are also several vegetarian options for those not comfortable with eating the average burger. The full menu can be viewed on the Shake Shack website, including location-specific options and seasonal choices. The menu can also be viewed on the Shake Shack app, which can be downloaded through the App Store and Google Play. The app allows users to order ahead, skip lines, pay contactless, do curb-side pickup, order delivery, and more. The app also has exclusive offers that are only available through it, so if you do not want to miss out on any deals or promotions you should seriously consider signing up for an account!
Although it is impossible to say the hours for sure until it is open, most Shake Shacks follow standard hours of opening around 11am and closing between 8pm-11pm, so we can assume that the new one will follow a similar schedule.
And what do Dakota students think about the new Shake Shack? I asked the following students for their opinions!
“I like that there’s a closer shake shack now that the one in lakeside circle is opening. Before this one, there were not very many shake shacks near me, so this will be an opportunity to go try it.” -Ava Hoglin, 11
