Stop Animal Testing
Animal testing is tests being performed on live animals in order to collect data to see what is safe for humans and what it not. Animals are tested on for new medicine, beauty products, cleaning products, new chemicals, etc. In some cases, animal testing can be referred to as “mild” , but it still causes physical and psychological suffering to the animal. At the end of many experiments the animal is killed or the animal is re-used for additional experiments. There are many species around the world that are tested on but the most common are mice, rat, fish, dog, cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters, mini pigs, guinea pigs, farm animals, and monkeys. Below are some of the tests preformed on animals:
-Forced chemical exposure which can include force feeding, forced inhalation, skin or muscle injection.
-Genetic manipulation by adding or getting rid of certain genes.
-Exposure to drugs, chemicals, or diseases that cause pain, suffering, and sometimes death.
-Periods of physical restraint.
-Taking away food and water.
-Causing wounds, burns, or other injuries so they can study how the animal heals.
-Electric shock
-Forced swimming
-Killed by decapitation, neck snapping, suffocation by carbon dioxide, and many more torturous killings
Animals that are protected under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) can still be abused and tortured. In some tests chemicals are dripped into mice, rats, rabbits, and guinea pigs eyes. Organizations that is suppose to watch over animal testing has been reported to being to friendly with the lab researchers. This causes them to over look certain aspects of animal testing. The organization that has been reported for this is the IACUC. Scientists have proven that there are other methods to collecting the data that animal testing gives us. Animal testing needs to be put to a stop. Animal testing is cruel and inhumane. Animals should not have to be tortured, abused, suffering, and in pain when there are other ways we can get the data we need. Help put animal testing to a stop with the petition below.
