The frequency rates continue to increase in women, children, and adolescents, and young adults. Cancer death rates continue to decline in men and women.

Why? you might ask

Cancer death rates have continued to decline since 1991 are mainly due to a decrease in smokers. Advancements in early detection and treatments for some cancers have also significantly caused the decline. However, even with this drop in death rates, cancer is still the second most common cause of death in men and women in the United States.

The downward trend in the national cancer death rate can be attributed in part to “large decreases in lung, breast, colorectal, all associated morality. Of these 4 leading malignancies, long-term declines in mortality have slowed for breast and colorectal cancers.
