Person Injured After Vehicle Strike During South Fargo Disturbance as Police Investigate Reported Assault Involving Juvenile Female Early Sunday

Posted on October 26, 2026

FARGO, ND — Fargo police are investigating an overnight incident in south Fargo that left one person hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle and involved a reported assault on a juvenile female.

Officers were called just after 1 a.m. Sunday to a disturbance involving a large group of people in the 5600 block of 36th Avenue South. When officers arrived, they learned that a juvenile female had been assaulted, according to police.

Authorities said a man then tried to get the juvenile to safety by placing her in his vehicle and leaving the area. The situation escalated when he returned later and the vehicle was surrounded by people.

Police say vehicle was surrounded before someone was struck

According to Fargo police, the driver came back to the scene with the juvenile after initially leaving. Once they returned, a group of people surrounded the vehicle, creating a tense standoff in the street.

Police said the driver then attempted to leave. During that movement, the vehicle struck one person. That individual suffered injuries that were described as non-life-threatening and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The exact circumstances of the strike have not been publicly detailed, and police have not said whether the person hit was part of the crowd or what led to the confrontation around the car.

Juvenile assault reported at 36th Avenue South scene

The disturbance began with a report that a juvenile female had been assaulted in the area, police said. Officers did not release the juvenile’s age or explain what circumstances led up to the reported assault.

What is clear from the police account is that the juvenile was with a male who attempted to protect her and remove her from the scene. That decision briefly moved the situation away from the original disturbance, but the trouble resumed when the pair returned.

Police have not released additional details about the reported assault, including whether any weapons were involved or whether investigators believe the assault was connected to the later vehicle strike.

West Fargo police helped locate the driver nearby

After the vehicle left the area, officers were able to locate the driver a short distance away with help from the West Fargo Police Department. Fargo police did not say how long it took to find the vehicle or where the driver was located.

The assistance from West Fargo officers suggests the incident drew a quick response from agencies working across city lines in the Fargo metro area. Still, police said the driver was only found after moving away from the original scene.

No information has been released about the driver’s identity, the vehicle involved, or whether any passengers were inside at the time.

No arrests or citations after the overnight response

As of the latest police update, no arrests had been made and no citations had been issued. Investigators also said no additional information was available at this time.

That leaves several unanswered questions, including whether anyone will face charges or whether officers expect the case to remain a disturbance investigation rather than become a criminal filing. Police have not said what, if anything, may happen next.

The lack of immediate enforcement action indicates the inquiry is still in its early stages. For now, the public account is limited to the fact that one person was hurt, one juvenile female was reported assaulted, and officers responded to a chaotic scene in south Fargo.

What police have confirmed so far about the overnight incident

Based on the police statement, the incident unfolded in several stages: a disturbance call, a reported assault involving a juvenile female, an attempt to move her out of danger, a return to the area, and a vehicle strike as the driver tried to leave.

Police have not said whether the group gathered outside the vehicle knew the juvenile, the driver, or the person injured. They also have not described the size of the crowd beyond saying it was large.

For now, the case remains under investigation by Fargo police, with no arrests, no citations, and no further details released about the people involved or what caused the disturbance in the first place.
