FERGUS FALLS, MN — Authorities in Minnesota say 22-year-old Aiden Leshovsky has been found after law enforcement issued an Endangered Missing Person Alert for him earlier Monday. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said in a 12:37 p.m. update that Leshovsky was located, ending the search that began after he left a Fergus Falls group home without approval.
The alert had been issued through the Minnesota Crime Alert Network after staff at the residence reported him missing. Officials said he left the facility on Monday morning, prompting concern because he was considered endangered due to his medical and mental health history.
Group home staff reported him missing early Monday morning
According to the alert issued by Sgt. Lucas Delaney of the Fergus Falls Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, staff at a group home in the 1100 block of North Concord Street discovered around 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2026, that Leshovsky had left the residence. He had gone without permission and was not under supervision when he disappeared.
Law enforcement said the missing-person alert was meant to quickly spread the information because of the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. The case drew immediate attention from local and state authorities, who asked the public to help locate him as the search continued through the morning.
Officials said he was considered endangered because of his health history
Authorities classified Leshovsky as endangered because he has schizophrenia and was without his prescribed medication. They also said he has a history of suicidal ideation and substance use disorder or chemical dependency. Those details increased concern about his safety and made the missing-person response more urgent than an ordinary report of someone who had left a residence.
Officials did not say whether Leshovsky had been harmed or how he was found. They only confirmed that he had been located and that the alert was no longer active after the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s update.
Investigators said he may have been near Yankton, South Dakota
In the hours after he went missing, authorities said preliminary investigative information suggested Leshovsky may have been near Yankton, South Dakota. They also noted that he did not have a known vehicle, which limited the information investigators could use to track where he might have gone after leaving the group home.
That possible lead was part of the information released to the public as officers worked to gather tips. Even with the out-of-state possibility, the alert remained focused on finding him quickly and safely and on getting reliable information from anyone who may have seen him.
Authorities released a physical description and identifying tattoo
Police described Leshovsky as a White man, 22 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 210 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. They also said he has a tattoo of the Joker on his left forearm. His clothing was not known when the alert was issued.
Officials included those details so the public could identify him if they saw someone matching the description. In missing-person cases, even small identifying features can help tipsters provide useful information to police, especially when a person has no known vehicle and may have moved away from the last confirmed location.
Public was told to contact dispatch or call 911 with information
Before Leshovsky was found, authorities asked anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 218-998-8555 and reference Fergus Falls Police Department case number 26037385. Officials also said anyone who saw him should call 911 right away.
The alert stressed that any sighting or useful lead should be reported immediately so officers could respond quickly. After the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension announced that Leshovsky had been found, the public safety message shifted from searching for him to confirming that the endangered alert had been resolved.
