7 Reasons Why Julie and The Phantoms Should Get a Season 2

I believe that we’re just one dream away from season 2…

7+Reasons+Why+Julie+and+The+Phantoms+Should+Get+a+Season+2

The Netflix series Julie and the Phantoms first graced the streaming platform in September 2020 with its musical, iconic presence. The show follows the main character Julie as she forms a band with three teenage ghosts and rediscovers her love for music after her mother’s death. Although it has been out for several months, Netflix has not confirmed a second season. Fans are eager for the day when they will hear the announcement for this highly anticipated renewalTo express my support, here are seven reasons why Julie and The Phantoms should stand tall and get the continuation it deserves:

1. The Cliffhanger…

This seems like the most obvious reason, but the cliffhanger at the end of the last episode should be enough to renew the series. I will not spoil what happens because everyone should go watch it, but let’s just say that it certainly leaves you wanting to know what happens next.

2. Representation Matters

The actress who plays Julie, Madison Reyes, is of Puerto Rican descent. Her character exhibits the qualities of a strong, independent female lead, representing women in a positive light. Proper representation is crucial in the media, and the role of Julie is a perfect example of effective, nonbiased diversity. Her character’s unmatched talent and dedication color her as an inspiring individual with a proud heritage, and she definitely deserves to continue her journey.

3. It’s For Kids…But It’s Not

Many shows designed for children have dedicated adult followings, and Julie and The Phantoms is no exception. The series’ target demographic is evidently younger audiences based on certain aspects of the dialogue, storyline, and advertising, but it is not so childish that it is unbearable. It provides a nostalgic feeling that brings you back to your favorite Disney Channel installments while also having a deeper complexity that draws in older viewers. The fact that a show meant for kids has such a large adult following speaks volumes about the show’s content and potential.

4. LGBTQ+ Inclusion

While many young adult programs depict LGBTQ+ characters as struggling with their identity, Julie and the Phantoms has an openly gay character, Alex. He has already come to terms with his sexuality and receives support from his bandmates, a factor that is not commonly found in kid’s shows but is critical to address to younger audiences. This is not even a hidden detail mentioned once and forgotten; his sexuality is discussed throughout the series with his own love interest and everything. The show’s progressiveness adds to its appeal and makes it a series worth continuing.

5. This Face:

6. Moving Music

The music in this show is AMAZING. All the cast members are incredible singers and instrumentalists that bring authenticity and passion to each performance. Most of the songs focus on spreading positivity and emphasizing individuality, but some are intriguing villain tracks. The song “Unsaid Emily” is one of the saddest and most heart-wrenching tunes I have ever heard, only demonstrating the musical talents of those involved. These individuals must make more beautiful music!

7. Inspiring Themes

Julie and The Phantoms’ storyline includes influential and compelling themes that contribute to its complexity. The show is a beacon of inclusivity and positivity, exemplifying the importance of acceptance and following your dreams. These themes allow audiences to connect with the content and incorporate the necessary lessons learned by the characters into their own lives. On the surface, Julie and The Phantoms is an ordinary kid’s show, but its deeper inspirational topics and discussion of difficult situations make it superior to other series.
