A New Member of the Battle Royale Genre: Call of Duty – Black Ops 4 – Blackout Beta
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Blackout Beta is the newest addition to the recent trend of the Battle Royale genre in the Video Game Industry. The game got many positive reviews over the course of days in which the Beta was up with people comparing the Blackout Beta to a PUBG and managed to create quite a stir in the Battle Royale community. At one point in time, Blackout had more streams on Twitch than the biggest competitor in the Battle Royale genre, Fortnite. Players within the Battle Royale Community are predicting Blackout to wipe out PUBG as the rival competitor to Fortnite. David Vonderhaar, Game Designer Director at Treyarch, has released further details to the public in preparation the upcoming full release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on October 12th of this year.
Personally, I enjoyed the Blackout Beta’s classic FPS Combat System intertwined with the elements Battle Royale. The vehicles, guns, and perks within the game mode make Blackout enjoyable. Sure, there are some perks like the Body Armor perk that seems to be a bit too overpowered, but it will be nerfed, as in reducing the overall effectiveness of the perk, once the game is in its full release. To sum it up nicely, I would give the Blackout Beta an 8/10; seeing that it’s only a Beta and there is more to come in the future and the game has its flaws. This newly introduced Battle Royale game has a lot of potential and may even become more popular then Fortnite by the end of 2018 going into 2019.
