Lana Del Rey VS Radiohead

For the past few days news that Radiohead was suing Lana Del Rey for plagiarism were all over the Internet. In case you weren’t following this story, this is a short sum up of what was actually going on.

Allegedly, melody of Del Rey’s song “Get Free” is similar to Radiohead’s hit “Creep” from 1993. On Sunday, Lana confirmed this on her Twitter saying that everything about the lawsuit is true, and that Radiohead’s “relentless lawyers” will only accept 100 percent of the publishing.

On the other hand, Radiohead’s publishers Warner/Chappell claim that no law suit has been issued, even though they think that “It’s clear that the verses of “Get Free” use musical elements found in the verses of “Creep” and we’ve requested that this be acknowledged in favour of all writers of Creep”.

What makes this case so strange is that Radiohead was sued for the same reason by The Hollies, who claimed that the “Creep” is really similar to their 1974 song “The Air That I Breathe”.
