As everyone knows, Holiday break was hailed in by reward day on the final half-day of school. Taking place Friday the 22nd of December, reward day was planned by leadership class after the school raised over $30k during Walk-A-Thon. The class is run by Mrs. Young.
Meeting only briefly for attendance, students were given free rein of the school. (Although the academic wing was closed off.) Yet there were plenty of things to do. A craft station was set up near the Cougar Den where one could find not just the typical painting supplies, but also yarn for knitting and crochet. It being on the cusp of break, there of course had to be a holiday themed movie: Home Alone. For those seeking quiet snowy-day activities, the reading nook could be found in Mrs. Cline’s room, and various games were in the media center. And of course – the refreshments. Hot cocoa was served in Dakota’s restaurant. There, one could also write letters to children in hospitals (sponsored by Project Kind.)
Then came the main event of Reward Day: teacher pool jump.
It was the highlight of the day and a big motivator in raising the money in the first place. At nine in the morning, over a dozen teachers lined up too that the plunge in front of the school (crowded as the students were on the bleachers.)
