Let’s Save The Internet Everyone

The content I create in my articles does not represent the beliefs of Dakota High School and any of the staff that work there.

I’m going to hopefully keep things very brief. Net Neutrality should be saved at all costs.

Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers must treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication. For instance, under these principles, internet service providers are unable to intentionally block, slow down or charge money for specific websites and online content. So I realize this isn’t the usual content that’s posted from me and I apologize because this is an issue that concerns both sides of the political spectrum. Everything we love about the internet that we all love is at risk because of that imbecile from the FCC. Ajit V. Pai the chairman of the FCC wants to tear down the free space known as the internet. So today I’m going to take a look at both perspectives of the argument.

So let me start by saying my stance; WE NEED TO SAVE THE INTERNET FROM CRAPPY CORPORATIONS. The freedom of speech and expression is in danger. Now more than ever we have to band together regardless of politics. To stop the repeal. Now the FCC has already repealed Net Neutrality and that is horrifying. No one should support this ruling it is a flagrant disrespect of civil liberties. In my opinion this issue should be interpreted with the 1st amendment. The main reason everyone loves the internet is because it is the perfect way to express yourself in anyway you see fit. To think that five people have the power to remove such a progressive reform is just stupid. We did not elect any of these chairmen into their positions of power. So they have absolutely zero right to regulate and deregulate the internet. Now I get it’s called the F.C.C. (Federal Communications Commision) for a reason, but it’s a bit ridiculous that a commision that is supposed to put reforms in place to protect consumers is doing the opposite. For example, Ajit Pai used to be a lawyer for Verizon. Now I’m not saying that he is being secretly paid by Verizon to do this to everyone. BUT IT SURE LOOKS LIKE HE’S BEING PAID BY VERIZON TO RUIN THE INTERNET FOR EVERYONE.

Now what can you do to support Net Neutrality after this disastrous ruling? Well I recommend talking to your local congressman to challenge this in Congress. Please tell everyone you know to do this as well. Thank you and God bless.
