Are you passionate about language arts? Do you enjoy reading, writing, and helping others? Are you a high achiever in your English Classes? If yes, then join NEHS, Dakota’s all-new National English Honor Society. NEHS is open to all incoming juniors and seniors. Applications can be found in the atrium along with the class hallways and are due on Friday, May 19th. For any questions ask Mrs. Cline in room 247. “The National English Honor Society (NEHS) is the only international organization exclusively for secondary students who, in the field of English, merit special note for past and current accomplishments. Individuals must apply and may be inducted into Society membership. Benefits of affiliation include academic recognition, scholarship and award eligibility, and opportunities for networking with others who share enthusiasm for, and accomplishment in, the language arts. Students will also create, volunteer, and oversee various community projects that relate to the field of English language arts.”

The main purpose for the club is to provide meaningful service to the school and community and develop essential leadership skills all throughout using and demonstrating strength the English Language. Activities within the club include book drives, House Cup (Harry Potter), Tutoring students of English classes in need of help with the subject, and donations and or service regarding the community. Applications are due on Friday, May 19th!!

 

This Society does not require essay writing, but such requirements to join include:

  • Maintain an English grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) prior to induction.

English course G.P.A. scale:

A= 4.0

B= 3.0

C= 2.0

D= 1.0

  • Must be an incoming junior (Class of 2025) or Senior (Class of 2024)
  • Must be part of NEHS for one school year and attend al meetings to earn a cord (Only 1 year required for cords).
  • Must attend all Meetings on the first Friday of every month during the school year.
