Update from Zachary Veal: “Tracking Both Rain & Snow for the Evening Commute!”

Update from Zachary Veal: Tracking Both Rain & Snow for the Evening Commute!

A “Winter Weather Advisory” remains in effect for both Lapeer and Sanilac Counties from now until 8pm EST due to snow persisting in those two counties as an additional 1 to 2 inches of new snow is possible. So, travel at your own risk in those two counties, for sure!

TONIGHT: Mainly cloudy skies early with the slight chance for some light rain, in spots, around Metro Detroit. But otherwise, skies should eventually become mostly cloudy later on at night along with both overnight low temperatures falling down into the middle 30s in our Metro Zone, or in our Urban Heat Island, as former-WDIV meteorologist Paul Gross liked to say, but falling down into the low 30s outside of our Metro Zone, or outside of our Urban Heat Island, and winds picking up W at 15-20 mph, gusting 20-35 mph, at times too! So, please make sure to watch out for any refreezing on surfaces like sidewalks, ramps, bridges, and overpasses both late tonight and early tomorrow morning if you must be out as temperatures overnight will likely fall either at or below freezing in most places.

TOMORROW: Happy very last day of February 2023, everyone!! A mostly cloudy, very chilly, and breezy start to your Tuesday around Metro Detroit as we will both get up and get going for either work, for the parents, or for school, for the kids, to morning low temperatures starting out in the middle 30s. But the afternoon hours should have the skies clearing out as they should become just partly cloudy along with both daytime high temperatures rising into the low 40s and breezy conditions too W at 8-18 mph, gusting 20-26 mph, at times too!

WEDNESDAY: Happy March 1st, everyone!! Mainly mostly cloudy skies with perhaps some scattered showers, in spots, around Metro Detroit as we kick off the 3rd month of 2023 along with both daytime high temperatures flirting with the middle 50s and much, much lighter winds thankfully!

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy skies around Metro Detroit during the daylight hours along with daytime high temperatures falling down into low 40s. So, it will definitely be a bit cooler than Wednesday on your Thursday, for sure. But snow does look to move into Metro Detroit beginning late Thursday night and will continue throughout the day on your “Finally Friday” as I will explain more below.

FRIDAY: Mainly mostly cloudy skies with perhaps either a wintry mix and/or just plain, old snow around Metro Detroit on your “Finally Friday” as we conclude both this work and this school week along with both daytime high temperatures only in the middle-to-upper 30s and windy conditions too ENE at 15-25 mph, gusting 30-40 mph, at times too! And there is the potential that Metro Detroit gets measurable snow of maybe 3-6 inches which could cause either some or most schools to cancel classes. So, please stay tuned!

THIS WEEKEND: Mainly mostly cloudy skies with the possibility of some light snow showers, in spots, around Metro Detroit on your Saturday along with daytime high temperatures only in the upper 30s. But on your Sunday as both you and your family commute both to and from both morning church services and brunch, we will be under partly cloudy skies along with daytime high temperatures rising into the low 40s.

Enjoy the rest of your Monday, Metro Detroit!!
