Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Sony Pictures Animation in association with Marvel) 

Sequel to the movie Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse, this movie returns to the story of Miles Morales in a computer animated adventure featuring the return of other well-beloved characters like Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-people. Fans are excited for the release of this highly anticipated film because of the praise garnered for the previous film’s animation quality and clean character movement/action.  

Elemental (Pixar Animation Studios) 

Set in a city where fire, water, earth, and air residents live in a fictional world of elements, the two main characters Ember, a fiery young woman, and Wade, a go-with-the-flow guy, go on an adventure where they experience self-discovery and learn that they aren’t so different from each other. 

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (Aardman Animations, Distributed by Netflix) 

Sequel to the movie Chicken Run, this 2023 film is highly anticipated by fans of the well-received 2000 film. The story takes place after the events of the first movie and follows the characters Rocky and Ginger, and their chick, Molly.  

Nimona (Originally produced by Blue Sky Studios, Netflix Animation Studios) 

This is an upcoming computer animated science fantasy adventure that follows the story of a knight and the shapeshifting teen Nimona as she helps to try and prove his innocence. This Film originally was being produced by Blue Sky Studios before being cancelled and picked up by Netflix. The film offers LGBTQ+ representation that the animated industry has struggled to integrate into their films. 

The Super Mario Bros Movie (Illumination, Nintendo, Universal Pictures) 

Following the story of everyone’s favorite plumber Mario, this animated film is set to release sometime in 2023. The trailer has been well received by fans and mixed reviews have come out concerning the production choices of the filmmakers. Many are excited to see the appearance of their favorite characters from the SMB fandom in a feature length animated film.  

Wish (Walt Disney Animation Studios) 

This animation is set to release on November 22nd of 2023 and tells the tale of how the iconic wishing star was born. Art released to the public by Disney shows the main character to be a young woman named Asha and her goat companion Valentino. Not much has been released about the film, but fans are excited for another animated movie to be added to the Disney canon.
