Food Review: Romero’s Tacos & Tequila

Birria+tacos

Birria tacos

Around 20 minutes from Dakota, on Van Dyke and 25 mile, next to Vince and Joes is Romero’s Tacos & Tequila. This restaurant has many different Mexican street food options. They have many different street tacos that range from Carnita tacos to cod tacos. The entrée options are also diverse with tamales, burritos, fajitas and many more options to pick from. The interior of the restaurant was very bright and colorful with a beautiful hand painted mural on one of the big walls.

Chips and Salsa

Our server first came and brought us chips and salsa. There were two kinds of salsa, a red one and a green one. The red one was milder while the green salsa was spicier. I preferred the red salsa while my mom preferred green. The tortilla chips were also good with not too much or too little salt on them.

Chori-queso dip

My mom and I decided to get a starter and get the chori-queso dip to bring some home for my dad. It came out with grease on the top which wasn’t very appealing but once we mixed it more it looked better. The picture to the right is after we mixed the dip up. The dip overall wasn’t astonishing, but it wasn’t bad either.

Chicken bowl and jalapeno cornbread

For our actual dinner my mom ordered the chicken bowl which contained shredded chicken, roasted tomatoes, avocado, black beans, pickled red onions, cotija and chili crema. With the entrees you had the option to select a side dish and with many selections available, my mom picked the jalapeno corn bread. My mom loved her bowl, and the presentation was very pleasing to look at.

As for my dinner I decided to have birria tacos ( The featured image). The birria tacos were tacos that had shredded beef, mozzarella, onion, cilantro, and consommé. It also came with a small bowl of consommé to dip the three tacos in. They also had limes on the side to squeeze the juice on the top. The tacos were juicy and delicious. I would 100% get them again.

The restaurant has daily specials posted on their website. Margarita Mondays, taco Tuesdays, fajita Wednesday’s and thirsty Thursdays. Different discounts for different days in the week

By the end of our meal, we could not finish much so we took a good amount home. My dad reported that it still was exceptionally good even warmed up in the microwave a day later.

Overall, the restaurant was not too expensive and was incredibly good. I will definitely be heading back in the near future.
