Cougars Cruise Carefully

During this past week you may have seen Dakota’s Leadership promoting their Cougars Cruise Carefully campaign. These students are working to get others to pledge to drive safely. According to the CDC teen drivers are three times more likely to get into a fatal crash. Together we can help cougars stay safe while driving.

Leadership gets a grant from Ford Safe Driving Skills for Life (FSDSL)t, a group which sends grants to schools all over Michigan to promote safe driving. Darcy Moran, a student in leadership says, “The main purpose is to promote safe driving, ranging from impaired driving to driving in unsafe weather conditions.” Dakota as one of the largest schools need to work to make driving safe, as many of us drive to school and sports, being safe should be a number one priority!

Students last week were able to use the Dakota S4SD filter on Snapchat to enter in a contest held by leadership. Kids were asked to say how they drive safely and post on twitter to tag S4SD

Now here are some tips to stay safe while you drive:

  • Put your phone on do not disturb or use an automated text.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and where you are going.
  • Make sure music is low enough to hear any emergency vehicles!
  •  Try and use your cars voice command if you can!
  • Don’t have too many people in the car
  • Click-it or ticket!!!
