An Introduction to Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society
Did you know that last fall Dakota established a chapter of the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society?
As Rho Kappa begins its second year at Dakota, the club would like to introduce itself and what is represents, as well as answer some questions about the club.
Most importantly, what is Rho Kappa? Rho Kappa is an organization that promotes scholarship, encourages diversity, and focuses on appreciation for the field of social studies.
Last year, the club focused on diversity as it honored the heritage of different groups each month. For example, did you know that November is National American Indian Heritage Month? Or that March is Women’s History Month? The club plans to continue finding ways to promote and honor diversity in social studies education.
This year, members hope to expand their impact through social studies tutoring, especially as midterm exams approach in January. In addition, the club hopes to find ways to make a difference through service opportunities in our community and school.

I think the new Rho Kappa chapter should focus on what is most important in our time, creating new history memes.
