A Very Spooky Review: Hush Haunted Attraction

A quarantine Halloween plaguing the year of 2020 didn’t dull the spirit for my family, thankfully, as we decided to attend the Hush Haunted Attraction in hopes for a good scare. Hush Haunted Attraction, located in Westland, Michigan, is a three in one haunted house consisting of different themes to ensure a scare (or maybe a scream). Due to the enforced COVID-19 restrictions, masks were required for all attendees and some actors and actresses. However, social distance guidelines seemed to be enforced but not completely followed as distance between groups, actors, and actresses was not always six feet. The terror was about half an hour long with a quick entry since fast pass tickets were optional. They did require all ticket purchases to be made online before arrival to ensure minimal face to face interaction.

Our group was first led to an elevator like shack in which we were transported and sent off to the lobby and the basement by one of the spooky hotel clerks. As we walked through the eerie basement of the lobby, we encountered wandering zombified hotel staff that left us unsettled and peaking around the corners. The actors and actresses gave us chills with their well performed roles and gruesome stage makeup, leaving attendees with chills and new nightmare fuel. Elements from the hotel clashed with underlying tones of awaiting evil in underground catacombs led us to our next destination- the Voodoo Bayou.

Exiting the catacombs and being thrown into a world of voodoo necromancy was perfect for suspense, wondering where the theme may take us next. We continued through green and dimly lit rooms and halls, the sounds of the eerie outdoors adding a super scary effect as we walked through.  Sometimes the floorboards moved under our feet to give us an extra scare- losing balance. Creepy voodoo man characters and bayou themed pathways gave the second haunted house a different spooky atmosphere from the last.  This was my personal favorite section of the attraction and will definitely spark a scare within.

As for the final haunted house, after we escaped the bayou of doom, we came to a halt before entering Rosecliff Hall. There we were led through large doors into the haunted Manor. This took us through fabricated hallways and unexplainably themed rooms that left us unsettled and looking behind our backs. A maze of rooms containing the unknown is where the patterned hallways of Rosecliff Hall took us on our visit. This final part of the was really well detailed that was perfect for a real Halloween feel.

Overall, the Hush Haunted Attraction is a must-go for those searching for a hair raising and safe thrill during the spooky season. It’s also been rated a 5-star haunt with features on Detroit Metro Times, Business Insider, NBC News, and USA’S Greatest Haunts. Those looking to squeeze in a last-minute scare are in luck for Hush has two available dates for ticket purchasing for November 6th and 7th. An extra bonus for the extreme adrenaline junkies- Hush is also hosting Glow Stick Fright Nights, where you and your group are given only one glowstick to survive all three haunted attractions. The catch? All lights are off and vulnerable to the beasts that lurk in the dark. Remember to have a fun and safe holiday season!
