Tilson St VS Clinton Township – Which is better?

As the Halloween season ends, we recently visited Tilson Street. In past years, Tilson Street has always been a wonderful experience for all ages. Located in Romeo, Michigan they are iconic for having awesome Halloween decorations all along the street. Unfortunately, this year it was not as decorated and spooky themed as in the past.

When visiting Tilson Street this year, the first thing we noticed that there was not as many people viewing the Halloween decorations when compared to previous years. Also, it seemed that fewer houses were decorated, and the decorations were not as intricate as they had been. This is most likely due to COVID-19 causing people to stay away from the large crowds that might be found on Tilson Street and hindering the residents’ ability to put as much effort into their designs as they had been able to in the prior Halloween seasons. To walk up and down Tilson Street, it only took us about 10-20 minutes, a big difference from how it used to be, from the lack of people this year. The decorations were still definitely impressive but didn’t seem up to par as to what’ s expected when visiting. Overall, it was still a fun and festive experience, but it’s a shame how it has been altered, likely due to the impact of COVID-19.

With Tilson Street being lacking compared to previous years, a new competitor has risen in Clinton township, called the “2020 Clinton Township Area: Neighbor– Haunt”. This new attraction features 7 different houses, all boasting their own themes, from an infestation with huge insects, to a carnival with killer clowns, each house is located on a different street which admittedly makes it more difficult to walk to all houses, as some are located a couple miles apart, each house arguably boasts more decorations than some located on Tilson street. Despite driving being a larger factor in Clinton Townships rendition of the famous local street, with Clinton township being closer to the high school when compared to Romeo, it is a viable option for some family fun.

While Tilson street will remain the most iconic Halloween attraction in our area for the foreseeable future due to its never-failing festivities, Clinton Township is now a very valid competitor for the best Halloween decorations in the area.
