Hey Alexa- What Should I Read?
Online school has been a struggle lately, and lots of people aren’t really able to enjoy doing their everyday activities with all the homework in the way. Especially all the book lovers in Dakota who are probably looking for some new series and novels to take them away from reality. So here are some recommended books for you to read:
Scifi & Dystopian Fiction
- Legend Trilogy By Marie Lu– A book about two fifteen year-olds in the middle of a war between two sides of America, in 2050.
- The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood– A book about New England in a tyrant state in the future, known as Gilead, that has overthrown the United States government.
- Dune by Frank Herbert– A book about a young boy, whose family accepts control over a planet.
- Scythe Trilogy by Neal Shusterman– A book about two teenagers that go into training to be recruited to kill people.
- I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison– A book where the Cold War has degenerated into a brutal world war between the United States, the Soviet Union, and China.
Historical & Realistic Fiction
- Lovely War by Julie Berry– A book about four lovers thirty years after their fates collide, and how the Greek goddess Aphrodite tells their stories to her husband, Hephaestus, and her lover, Ares, in a luxe Manhattan hotel room at the height of World War II.
- The Perks of Being A Walfower by Stephen Chbosky- A book about a teenage freshman boy, who goes through his years in High school attempting to answer questions spurred by his interactions with both his friends and family.
- The Fault In Our Stars by John Green- A book about a a 16-year-old girl with thyroid cancer who attends a support group and falls in love with a guy.
- A Great and Terrible Beauty Trilogy by Libba Bray- A book about a girl who leaves India after her mothers death and goes to a boarding school in England.
- The Secret Messenger by Mandy Robotham- A book about a young girl during a war in France, who delivers secret messages for The Italian Ressistance by night.

- Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman– A book about boy and a summer guest at his parents’ cliff-side mansion on the Italian Riviera, falling in love.
- A Boy Worth Knowing by Jennifer Cosgrove- A book about a seventeen year-old boy who can talk to ghosts and falls in love with his only friend.
- What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera- A book about two guys who cross paths and fall in love, but are unsure of the outcome.
- Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyers- A book about a High school girl who falls in love with a vampire who just moved to town with his family.
- I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver– A book about a boy who comes out to his parents and gets kicked out, only to move in with his sister and fall in love with a new friend.

- The Book Thief by Markus Zuzak- A book about a girl in Nazi Germany, who finds her brothers Gravediggers handbook, and soon starts to have a forebidden love for books.
- Looking for Alaska by John Green- A book about a boy who is brought into a girls world after attending the same boarding school as her.
- The Kite Runner by Khaled Housseini- A book about the unlikely friendship between a wealthy boy and the son of his father’s servant.
- Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher- A book about a boy who find out that his crush commited suicide, and decides to leave him a cassette tape, giving him thirteen reasons why she commited.
- A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving- A book about a boy who kills his best friends mother while hitting a foul ball, and doesnt believe its an accident.
