Five Reasons Why Everybody Should Play Among Us
Among Us, an online multiplayer game based on discussion between players, originally came out from developer InnerSloth on June 15, 2018, but it is only recently becoming popular. The game involves two different types of players: crewmates and imposters. Crewmates are meant to complete tasks and determine who the imposters are while the imposters are meant to sabotage and get rid of all the crewmates. Players discuss amongst each other to figure out and eject possible imposters. With its many intriguing qualities, here are five reasons why everyone should play Among Us:
1. It’s Cheap
For only $4.99 on the gaming platform Steam and for free on mobile, it is a no brainer why everybody is getting this game. For a small investment of money (or for free), you can immerse yourself into the game and explore its addictive power, making you put in a larger investment of time than the actual cost.
2. It Teaches You to Do Your Chores
Crewmates must complete their tasks in order to win the game. Tasks include everyday events like emptying the garbage to extremes like starting a reactor. You will feel so accomplished after you finish all your tasks that maybe it will influence you to do actual chores.
3. You Can Interact with People
The game requires discussion between players to determine who the imposters are. This allows you to interact with unique, interesting people that you never knew before. Who knows? Maybe you can meet a new friend that you play Among Us with every day. Just be sure not to release any personal information!
4. Practice your Debate Skills
A huge factor of the game is using your voice to either accuse someone of being an imposter or defend yourself. This gives plenty of practice in debate and fighting for a position you stand for. Although you may have to lie to keep yourself safe (I do not condone lying), this is still a great way to speak up and practice being persuasive.
5. Practice Problem Solving
Crewmates are meant to determine who the imposters are, so they must be very keen and aware while they complete their tasks. Using evidence and personal remarks, players can problem solve and figure out who the imposter is. This is an important skill in real life, so practicing in a video game is perfect preparation.
