My First Visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
On December 15th, 2019, I took my first trip to a galaxy far, far, away to the planet of Battuu and Black Spire Outpost. These are the official names for the brand-new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. I only had one day to explore the new land, but it was absolutely breathtaking. I had the chance to ride both attractions, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and the brand-new Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. I also had a chance to try some food and drink offerings, as well as explore the rest of the land.
I want to first talk about the attractions, starting with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. The best part of the experience was waiting to load in the chess room of the ship. It looked exactly like it did in the movies. I got the opportunity to pilot the ship on my first ride and it was really cool! It wasn’t the most mind-blowing experience ever, but it was a lot of fun! Rise of the Resistance, though, was a completely different story. I won’t go too in-depth with this, but the ride is absolutely amazing. Just the entire experience is something to behold and is a technological marvel. All I’ll say is that it’s my favorite attraction I’ve ever ridden at a theme park.
Other than the attractions, the rest of the land had a lot to offer. I got to try some food over at the Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo. I tried the Fried Endorian Chicken Tip-Yip, which was essentially fried chicken and mashed potatoes with green gravy. The food here was very good, some of the best quick service food I’ve eaten at a Disney park. I got to try Green Milk, which was surprisingly great! I didn’t expect it to be as good as it really was. I ended out my day by stopping at Oga’s Cantina, which had a very cool atmosphere!
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is my new favorite theme park land. With it’s intricate detail and immersive nature, anyone, even non-Star Wars fans, will really enjoy this amazing land.
