Spring Band Concert
On Wednesday, May 15, the band had their spring concert, which is the last concert of the year. The concert ended up being a huge success. The concert began with the jazz band playing three songs including, “America, The Beautiful.” After the jazz band got done playing, Dakota’s very own Six Cents Sharp performed a curtain act playing the song, “Stand by Me.” This was a very entertaining curtain act. Next up was the concert band, which ended up playing four songs. One of the songs they played, “Lady Gaga Fugue,” was a blend of popular and classical music.
After the concert band finished up playing, there was a second curtain act consisting of a saxophone quartet. The quartet included members Brian Corcoran, Aidan Binford, Ryan Allison, and Brenden Roumaya who played the song “Lindo.” The quartet did a wonderful job performing. The symphonic band played next. The symphonic band played four songs, including the song, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”. This song was very popular with the students and audience.
The wind ensemble played last. The wind ensemble played five songs and for two of the songs they were joined by some local guest artists. The flute duo of Jacqueline Fornari and Laura Kellogg accompanied the jazz band for the piece titled, “Andante and Rondo Opus 25.” Another guest artist, saxophonist Garrett Klauss, joined the band performing the song, “Czardas.” It was great to have these very talented musicians playing alongside the band.
For the finale, all the bands came out and performed the song, “Fire.” It was a very cool experience to see all the bands performing together. The bands all did an amazing job this year, and next year promises to be just as good.
