Spider-Man Begins a New Era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Warning: This article will contain spoilers for Avengers: Endgame

The newest trailer for the upcoming film Spider-Man: Far From Home came out yesterday and revealed many details about the movie that fans have been speculating and questioning. The first few seconds of the trailer answer one of the most debated topics, being when the movie will actually take place. Some fans had theorized that Far From Home was to be set before the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War. However, it is now known that it will be set after the most recent of the Marvel films, Avengers: Endgame as Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is seen mourning the loss of his mentor, Tony Stark, a.k.a., Iron Man, whose death occurred in the previously mentioned film. The trailer suggests that Tony’s death will play a significant role in the character arc of Spider-Man, and there were even mentions of him becoming “the next Iron Man”. More about the plot is established, and it reveals that the events of previous movies have created dimensional rift, which has evidently resulted in travelers from other universes, such as a new character, Mysterio, portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) seems to be trying to recruit Spider-Man to help against whatever threat the world will be facing in the film. It seems that this movie will be pivotal in Peter Parker’s transition from a local hero to an Avenger. The movie is scheduled to release July 2nd, 2019 and as usual, fans are eagerly waiting and creating theories in preparation.
