Sony Pictures and Marvel Entertainment’s Venom – Is it really that Bad?

On October 6, 2018, Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures released Venom to cinema. Just from the get go, critics were tearing into the marvel comic adaptation on the night of release. Although, audience reviews seemed to be mostly positive. The problem most people have with the film is the central division people have with the film itself. The rights to Venom are bonded to that of Sony Pictures; Marvel Entertainment didn’t have much of a decision on this matter as Sony has owned all the rights to Spiderman ever since the early 2000s Spiderman films featuring Toby Maguire as Spiderman. Which then went into the Amazing Spiderman films of the early 2010’s to then lead to where we are now in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) with Spiderman Homecoming. Viewers expected to have Venom tie into the MCU, but it didn’t; it was in it’s own separate universe apart from the MCU. For this reason, critics negatively reviewed the movie. Judging by the opinions of friends of mine on the movie, as I have personally not watched the movie, Venom seemed to be a decent movie. Personally, I would give this movie n 8/10 as from what I’ve heard about the movie so far, most of the people that have seen this movie, excluding critics, would say the movie wasn’t a great film but nor was it a horrible film. I would encourage those that have not seen the film yet to go and see it, as I need to go out and see this movie while its still in theaters.
