Taylor Swift Gets Political
Two days ago Taylor Swift broke her none political streak by posting to Instagram telling everyone to vote for the midterm elections on November 6th.
She writes, “In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in these past two years. I feel very differently about that now.”
“I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG.”
Swift then says although she wants to continue voting for women in office she will not be voting for Marsha Blackburn. Marsha Voted against equal pay for women, Re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act, believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples, and that they should not have the right to get married either.
After Swift shared these words there has been a US voter registration spike!
Vote.org statistics reported 51,308 new registrations in the 24 hours since she shared her political opinions
Trump even commented and said he liked her music less.
