Last night the award for Outstanding Directing for Variety Special at the 2018 Emmys went to Glenn Weiss.

During his acceptance speech he brought his girlfriend, Jan Svendsen on stage to propose to her.

He started off by saying “Mom always believed in finding the sunshine in things and she adored my girlfriend, Jan. Jan, you are the sunshine in my life. And my mom was right- Don’t ever let go of your sunshine”.

She was completely taken by surprise while walking on stage to join her new fiance. Glenn ended by saying, ” This is the ring my dad put on my moms finger 67 years ago,” “Jan, I want to put this ring that my mom wore on your finger in front of all these people and in front of my mom and your parents watching from above. Will you marry me?”

Of course she said yes and everyone in the audience was just as shocked and happy as Jan was.
